Lahad Datu: Felda Sahabat under the Lahad Datu area is not confined to Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), Sabah Commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass said.

Although Lahad Datu is recognized as ‘Red Zone’, however, to announce EMCO, we need to consider certain points for Felda Sahabat, which at this point in time it’s better to increase better MCO in that area.

“At the moment, we don’t allow anyone to move in and out of the district and since yesterday night, the health officials had started for testing the individuals within the area.”

It is understood that the testing will complete on Wednesday and close monitoring will take place until the testing has been completed in the area, said Datuk Zaini Jass when met by the media when he was inspecting the roadblock process.

Zaini added that until the test results are obtained by the health officials, our security forces and other agencies will do a close monitoring curb the spread of COVID-19.

“While waiting for the test result, any individuals with positive symptoms will be isolated to avoid any close contact and break the chain process.

The EMCO will take a long process and has to meet various processes, whilst the situation is still under control in the Felda area, he added.

If the situation gets out of control, then we will strategise to adopt a better plan to control the spread of COVID-19.

Before that, National Security Council urged drew out a plan to declare any red zone areas as EMCO imposed on certain areas or locality with the advice from Health Ministry to avoid the spread of COVID-19 within a locality.

On another note, Lahad Datu police OCPD, ACP Nasri Mansor in his statement said that the enforcement of MCO will be beefed up in Felda area to prevent and break the COVID-19 chain which can affect the health security to the community.

As of today, in Lahad Datu it is recorded to have 42 cases.
