Drug dealer shot dead, wife detained for further investigation

Lahad Datu – A male drug dealer was shot dead after attacking a policeman who was trying to detain him in the area of Rimmer palm oil estate area.

The suspect is known as Tas@Tans, 30 years old wanted for a case under Section 326 of the Penal Code. The incident took place around 9.30pm.

The suspect is believed to injure a man with a weapon intentionally, on May 5.

Lahad Datu OCPD, ACP Nasri Mansor said that before the incident, he and his team were doing a routine checkup around the Jalan Silabukan area.

During that time, the police team found the man behaving in a suspicious manner.

“The police tried to stop the man; however he jumped from his motorbike and ran into the palm oil estate area.

“We chased him and issued our warning as a policeman to stop him, but he turned around and tried to attack one of our policemen with a machete,” he said in a press conference held at Lahad Datu district police station.

Nasri said, to defend, the police had to fire shots towards the man and he died on the spot.

From the initial probe, shots were found at his chest area and from our facial recognition; they identified him as a wanted man.

Also was found, three packets of syabu weighing 13.6 grams.

Nasri added, further investigation will be conducted under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Nasri highlighted that prior to the incident, his wife, 17 years old was detained around 8.45pm
