JAKARTA, (Xinhua) — Indonesian kickboxers have set a target of winning gold medals during the forthcoming 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam, local media reported on Sunday.
“At the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam, it will be our target to secure gold medals,” head coach of the Indonesian kickboxing athletes Adrieyani Mandey said.
The coach said on Saturday that Indonesia would make the biennial event a means for the awakening of the country’s kickboxing sport.
Preparations have been intensively carried out for the upcoming sports event, the Indonesian Kickboxing Association’s Head Ngatino said, adding that the government has given strong support to the country’s squad.
“The association feels challenged to show the best performance at the SEA Games in Vietnam in 2021,” he said on Saturday.
The Indonesian kickboxing team took two silver medals and eight bronze medals during the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.
