PPR residents get a helping hand from local NGO


PETALING JAYA: A local non-governmental organization (NGO) Pertubuhan Kebajikan Unggul Sejahtera has been helping poor families since day one of the Movement Control Order imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking to One Malaya team, it’s founder Dato S.Muthalagan said that he started to receive numerous phone calls asking help from around his Kampung Pasir office area.

According to Muthualagan, there are families below the B40 categories in his office area, asked for assistance in terms of food provisions.

So his team decided to start a campaign in helping all the poor families affected by the MCO not only in his office area but also in other PPR flats near to his area.

The PPR residents and families benefited are from Lembah Pantai, Kg Baiduri, Bukit Jalil, Subang PPR area.

In the provisions given to the needy family, basic necessity items like sardine, egg, bread, flour, rice, vegetables, fish, cooking oil, spices are among the items given.

His team will continue to help more of this sort of assistance in the coming week with vegetables and fish to the needy and poor families out there within the PPR flats area.

It is estimated around 2,500 families benefited from the assistance given by his NGO.
